Audit the IURC and Utilities Every Three Years
Requires the State Board of Accounts to audit the IURC — the agency that sets your utility rates — every three years. Also allows audits of the utilities themselves. Right now there's no regular independent audit of whether the IURC is doing its job or whether utilities are spending ratepayer money responsibly. This bill would change that.
