Exempt Utility Bills from Sales Tax + Require IURC Approval for Utility Sales
Would have eliminated sales tax on your electric, gas, and water bills starting in 2027 — saving Indiana households real money every month. Also would have required the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to approve any sale of a utility company before it goes through. That second part matters right now: BlackRock is trying to buy AES Indiana in a $33 billion deal, and this bill would have given regulators a say before private equity takes over your electric company.
