GAP for Military Service Act

R. 6381 To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to study the feasibility of a program to recruit individuals to serve for one year on active duty in the Armed Forces. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES December 3, 2025 Mr. Cisneros introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to study the feasibility of a program to recruit individuals to serve for one year on active duty in the Armed Forces. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Gateways to Advancement and Preparedness for Military Service Act'' or the ``GAP for Military Service Act''. SEC. 2. GAO FEASIBILITY STUDY ON PROGRAM TO RECRUIT INDIVIDUALS TO SERVE FOR ONE YEAR ON ACTIVE DUTY IN THE ARMED FORCES. Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House of Representatives a report regarding the feasibility of a program to recruit individuals to serve for one year on active duty in the Armed Forces. Such report shall include the following elements: (1) A list of military occupational specialties suitable for such program. (2) The advanced training requirements for such program. (3) An evaluation of such programs in other countries, including the effects on recruitment, retention, and force effectiveness. (4) A description of what such service may entail. (5) An assessment of the costs to implement such a program. (6) Barriers to implementing a such
