Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``No Sanctuary Cities Act of 2026''. SEC. 2. AMENDMENT TO THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION REFORM AND IMMIGRANT RESPONSIBILITY ACT OF 1996. Section 642 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1373) is amended to read as follows: ``SEC. 642. COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SHARING REGARDING CITIZENSHIP OR IMMIGRATION STATUS. ``(a) Definitions.--In this section: ``(1) The term `information' means information that is lawfully obtained and maintained by a State or political subdivision for law enforcement, correctional, or custodial purposes, including-- ``(A) immigration or citizenship status;
