Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Medicare Investment and Gun Violence Prevention Act''. SEC. 2. REPEAL OF ELIMINATION OF TRANSFER AND MANUFACTURING TAXES FOR CERTAIN FIREARMS. (a) Transfer Tax.--Section 5811(a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended by section 70436(a) of Public Law 119-21, is amended to read as follows: ``(a) Rate.--There shall be levied, collected, and paid on firearms transferred a tax at the rate of $200 for each firearm transferred, except, the transfer tax on any firearm classified as any other weapon under section 5845(e) shall be at the rate of $5 for each such firearm transferred.''. (b) Making Tax.--Section 5821(a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended by section 70436(b) of Public Law 119-21, is amended to read as follows: ``(a) Rate.--There shall be levied, collected, and paid upon the making of a firearm a tax at the rate of $200 for each firearm made.''.
