As Jackson left Shorts’ house, he threatened to kill her and her children. Shortly after midnight, Shorts’ daughter, D.B., left Shorts’ upstairs bedroom where she had been watching a movie with her mother and went to the bathroom, which was on the same floor as the bedroom. While in the bathroom, D.B. heard four “punching” sounds.
