The relevant facts as discussed in Stucker’s direct appeal follow:
[I]n October 1983, Stucker and Johnny Hodge were both inmates at
the Indiana State Prison (“the Prison”) in Michigan City. Hodge
was the leader of the Gangster Disciple gang within the Prison,
which trafficked in drugs. Stucker was a member of the Aryan
Brotherhood gang. Stucker owed a large drug debt to Hodge. At
some point, Hodge struck Stucker across the face during a
confrontation about the debt.
