Griffin made arrangements for a meeting at which seventeen-year-old Davis would sell Martinez a handgun for $700. Davis and Martinez did not know each other and had never met. In the late afternoon on August 22nd, Davis drove to Griffin’s house, which was on the same street as Martinez’s home in Merrillville.
