Shortly after midnight on December 9, 2020, Temple’s daughter Brooklyn was fighting with her boyfriend, Noe Contreras, who had a history of carrying a gun and making threats of violence. Temple was at work, and he received a text from his son Brady telling him to come home. Temple left work and drove home. Before he went into the house, he took his own gun from his truck and put it in his pocket.
