In January 2014, Davis was involved in a physical altercation with prison officers. The Prison filed a disciplinary report against Davis and assessed more than $44,000 as restitution for the officers’ injuries. Davis later sued the officers in federal court for use of excessive force, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana awarded Davis a $35,000 judgment against one of the officers.
