State of Indiana ── Case No.: 22A-CR-00868 Court: Indiana Court of Appeals Date: September 01, 2022 Author: Judge Melissa May County of Origin: Huntington Category: Criminal Decision: Affirmed Judge Riley and Judge Tavitas concur In 2008, an Indiana State Police Trooper arrested Ellis after Ellis caused a disturbance during Sunday services at a church. The trooper called Terry Stoffel, who was then employed as a police officer with the Huntington Police Department, to transfer Ellis to the jail. Stoffel did so without incident. Two years later, Stoffel won election as Huntington County Sheriff, and he served as 1 Ind. Code § 35-45-10-5. the Huntington County Sheriff from 2011 until 2017.
