The trooper called Terry Stoffel, who was then employed as a police officer with the Huntington Police Department, to transfer Ellis to the jail. Stoffel did so without incident. Two years later, Stoffel won election as Huntington County Sheriff, and he served as 1 Ind. Code § 35-45-10-5. the Huntington County Sheriff from 2011 until 2017.
