Mother’s job required her to travel out of state, and most weeks she was away on business from Monday through Thursday. When she traveled, Mother would leave C.M., H.N., and the two younger children in Nowlan’s care. One night when Mother was away, Nowlan entered C.M.’s room while she slept.
