In 2021, when the events leading to this appeal took place, Smith was sixty-six
years old and Alphonzo was sixty-five. The brothers were not “on good terms”
and communicated solely by exchanging text messages. Tr. Vol. III p. 126.
Some of Smith’s messages to Alphonzo were “[v]ery hostile.” Id.
Smith and Alphonzo took turns caring for their mother, Jean.
