J.C. had previously been charged with the status offense of leaving home without permission, and had bounced between placement with her grandparents, Mother, and a group home. The State filed a petition alleging J.C. was a delinquent child for committing an act that, if committed by an adult, would constitute Class B misdemeanor battery.
