Maletta had no mortgage on the house. By 2012, Maletta had fallen behind in paying her real estate taxes and homeowner’s association (“HOA”) fees, and her house was sold at a tax sale. In an effort to redeem the property within the redemption period, Maletta contacted Ristovski, who was “known to [her] as an expert in the area of real estate financing and leasing[.]” Appellant’s App. Vol. 2, p. 32.
