Two officers, Deputy Lucas Ray and Deputy Amanda Jung, were dispatched to the scene, and Indiana State Police Trooper William Campbell arrived shortly thereafter to assist them. Upon arriving at the hotel, the three officers were directed to room 306. At the door to that room, the officers knocked and announced their presence.
