According to DeOreo, throughout 2021 he was employed by the Diocese in Hamilton and Boone Counties. During that time, Dudzinski, who also worked for the Diocese, “harbored significant ill-will toward DeOreo.” Appellant’s App. Vol. 2, p. 13. Dudzinski met with a minor parishioner who blamed DeOreo for an eating disorder, and Dudzinski sought to “prey[] upon” the parishioner’s “desire for vengeance” against DeOreo.
