On July 28, 2023, Fields was an inmate in the Boone County Jail. On that date, he placed a telephone call from the jail to his friend Tisha Maxwell. During the call, Fields discussed his mother’s arrest for dealing after an investigation in Clinton County involving controlled buys. Fields became angry during the phone call and told Maxwell, “I’m gonna kill Adams . . . .
