Jennings County Sheriff William “Kenny” Freeman, Jr. faces multiple c... [0:00-2:33]
Hey guys good morning today is Tuesday June 9th so this story actually came out yesterday yesterday was such a crazy day for me I was unable to do any types of videos so sorry about that but this is a Jennings County Sheriff charge in a theft case but this is a little interesting because it's in regards to campaign signs so last week it was the Thursday June 4th a Jennings County grand jury was convened and indicted Jennings County Sheriff William K they call him Kenny Freeman he's 60 years old of North Vernon Indiana on multiple charges following a six-month investigation by the Indiana State Police into the theft of campaign signs so back in November of 2025 troopers from the Indiana State Police were contacted by a candidate for Jennings County Sheriff who reported that he had campaign signs stolen from locations across area roadways as a result he obtained or his items had GPS devices on it and place a locator on one of his signs when the sign was stolen he observed that the locator indicated that the sign was put in a dumpster on Freeman's property so troopers responded to Freeman's property and retrieved the sign an item locator from the dumpster which again was in the possession of Freeman while on the property the other campaign signs were observed in the dumpster to include a sign for Jennings County judge candidate who also reported having his campaign sign stolen soon after the troopers located the stolen signs in Freeman's possession Freeman issued a complaint and the summons to both political candidates related to the placement of their signs so I find this really interesting because he basically gets caught by taking these signs because they're on his in his possession on his property in his dumpster but then after that he issues a complaint in a ticket to both political candidates I guess in retaliation so at the conclusion of this investigation the grand a jury reviewed the case and indicted Freeman on the following charges so two counts of theft which is a class a misdemeanor official misconduct level six felony obstruction of justice also a level six felony along with a level six felony of perjury the arrest warrant on Freeman was served yesterday morning he actually turned himself in at the Ripley County jail and then was actually released on his own reconnaissance the defendant waived his right to have an initial hearing on the charges and then a pretrial hearing will be set by the court at a later date
