02-10-2026 Commissioners [5:00-10:00]

And then I'm also here. It's time for us to apply for our grants. I need permission to apply for the Department of Corrections. Adult and juvenile grant. The juvenile grant is due this Friday. It's for $74,976. It pays for our juvenile problem solving court and our juvenile road crew. Our adult grant is due April 1st. It covers the adult community corrections portion of our funding that user fees don't cover. And then the third grant I'm applying for is the Office of Court Services. Problem solving court grant that also supports our juvenile problem solving court. On that one I'm applying for $16,275. However, it's to be known what we will receive. But at this time, I just need your approval and blessing to apply for those. I'm going to get a motion to approve the charge request to apply for grants. I move to approve. I'll have a first and a second. All in favor say aye. Aye. Aye. And just to let you know, our Farwood program is going really well. We've given out about 25 loads of wood so far. And we still have wood if anybody needs wood that can contact my office or their trustee can refer them to me. So thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Madam. Good morning. As Chad said, we'll get ready to enter to the 2027 grant cycle. And I forward an email to you with the grants that I will be applying for. The first one is the juvenile detention alternative program for $80,000. That is to the Department of Corrections. That grant will be submitted on Friday. This allows us to come up with alternative programs for juvenile such as the parent program. We have a mentoring program, the school program. And in city programs for the juvenile. So it's all related to juvenile work. The second is for our drug court program. And that's to the Indian Department of Corrections. This will be our 10th year receiving it. I'm applying for $209,191 for that grant. The third grant is veteran treatment program. That's to Superior Court 2. That's for people who are veterans that have been arrested for an offense to go through that program. We do have a graduation. I think I sent out information for that for February 26 at 8 a.m. In Lawrence Superior Court 2, we have one graduate of that date. The fourth one is through the Indian Supreme Court. This is a grant, a smaller grant. This grant allows us to provide home visits to the participants. It allows us to provide them in cities. It allows for graduations to be able to have food and stuff at the graduation. It also allows us to purchase drug screens for the participants to try to deteriorate the cost for them at $10 per test. So they're tested two, three times a week. So if they pay for that cost, it'd be very expensive for them. So we're trying to deteriorate that cost for them. The last grant is for pretrial services. In the amount of $91,051, this is the fifth year that we have received. That grant will be applying for it. We've received it four years. And this is for the pretrial program. This allows an officer to go into the jail to do it in an evaluation report to the judge. We're not to recommend that person should be released if they do not have an opportunity to postpone. So all the problem solving courts have just went through. We are certified to do our problem solving courts for another three years through the enough court services. We're getting ready. We're in the process of the pretrial services. Getting that certified also. Any questions? No, thank you. So you actually have five grants. And there'll be a couple more come up at a later date. Right now they're not open. So until they come open, I have one you're not applying this year through the DLC for the domestic violence problem solving. We resolve that in October. And at some point we probably will revamp that. Right now we're getting a lot of referrals for our drug court. So we'd like to take some hopefully DLC to give us some of that money to have one of the people do that as a case manager through our office. Thank you. Well, thank you for all the work to get in the grants to save the taxpayers having to fund these types of programs. Do we have a motion to allow Ned or to apply? I move through those five application grants. I have a first and a second. On favor say aye. Aye. Thank you. Thank you guys for your support. Because without you guys support us, we're not able to do this. So thank you. Thank you. Next thing we're down to department reports. Brian Satters. Good morning. All right. I'm going to start with last week's snow removal.

{# E23 (Nick, ruling section 1 answer 10): quoting a bill or a court opinion works the way quoting a news article works. Select a passage above and the same panel opens: the passage goes to the official you choose, with this document's own address as its source and its own type. #}
