10/7/25 Commissioners Meeting [23:37-27:30]

then I can submit reimbursement to whatever agency hired that person. And if it happens during the first year, I can ask for 100%. I can get 100% reimbursement for all the training costs and salary that's been invested into that person. If it happens during the second year of employment, 66% and then 33% if it happens in the third year. So that's kind of a deterrent for agencies to maybe not be taking people from agencies at least for a few years. And then as part of that, it also allows agencies to have their new hire sign a contract where if they leave, maybe they're not leaving to another police agency, but they're just leaving your department to go to another job. The contract that they sign is basically saying they will reimburse us for the cost of their training and things like that. So the contract that I kind of drafted one and sent to Mr. Smith, and I think you guys all kind of have a copy of what that final version would look like that. And if it's all right with you guys, I will have, I will start having new merit deputy hires sign. Basically, it just follows the Senate General Act 95. Do I have a motion to approve the agreement, the hiring, training, and reimbursement agreement that Sheriff has presented? Move to approve. Have a motion. I'll second that. Second. I'm just going to make a statement. We don't want to necessarily just be a training ground. I do a law enforcement officer, but this just gives us somewhat of protection for the cost that takes for us to do that. And I appreciate you doing the work to get this agreement ready for us. It's obviously the issue we kind of can run into, which all agencies do, but police departments are throwing some pretty big money at already trained people on giving them lateral transfer bonuses. I mean, I think I think that the police has a hiring process going on right now with a $10,000 signing bonus on top of the salary where they make more than us anyway. So it's just, it's a constant matter. So this is, it's not going to fix everything. I don't think that it's a step to help a little bit. Thank you. I'll call for the vote. All those in favor? Signify the saying aye. Opposed? And motion carries. I do have one more question. Okay. You got our DLC payments yet? I believe there are. We've got one coming in today for $89. Yeah. They're supposed to, they're supposed to do it this week. That's what they told us at the Sheriff's Association Zoom meeting last week. They're supposed to carry this week. So it seems like we're supposed to get it today. Is that a quarter? A quarterish worth? Or is it? I mean, that's what DLC is saying is the full amount. I'm not sure I 100% agree with that. So I, I breach out to them. I think it's probably closer to $120,000 they always. But, so we've reached out to see. They're just not real yet a community. Okay. We are, he's getting 87,000 today. Yeah. All right. Thank you. Sheriff. Anyone else have any unfinished old business? Hearing none, I would entertain a motion per adjournment. I'd move the floor adjourned. I'll motion it. We are adjourned. Thank you. Thank you. A longer period of time. A longer period of time.

{# E23 (Nick, ruling section 1 answer 10): quoting a bill or a court opinion works the way quoting a news article works. Select a passage above and the same panel opens: the passage goes to the official you choose, with this document's own address as its source and its own type. #}
