07/29/2025 Commissioners Meeting [32:14-37:15]

There's a problem with what we do when it is, are you guys going to be able to start just finding that out of a way to product contracting and to fill that out of the nation? So again, back in 2023, I worked the spring goal when they wanted to have a SRO. We went through all the same options that I went through with Mitchell, that actually happened before Mitchell. And they came up with, they wanted to pay and have their own employee and I made that person a special deputy out there. I've had communications with LCIS because they're an RC, but they can't find a qualified former officer to take it through the amount of money that it would be out there. So I had communications with everybody where we're doing the best we can on all of that. I know what you're saying. I'm against it, I know what it's like. On the schools side of this, just back on September 24, where there was $24 million allocated for grant money for schools to fund the realm. I don't know how many... No, we're staying in money. We're staying in money. I don't know how many of the money there was without paying it, or getting it from different resources. But I'm just concerned about when this becomes a no-profit issue, where we will fund it in front of the debt as it becomes a bit of a risk and we'll have water off if we don't need to close it. I guess so. So you're saying open-pain door spots? Well, I'm not sure. I mean, I just think doors boxes are open. Years and years ago, when the original NSRO would have been... went into effect. And my... I guess my thing is, there's never been an issue without any of that work. Oh, I'm not asking for a new position. I'm not asking for a new hire. I literally am transferring one of my regular deputies to P&L. And this employee will then have been paid $75,000 of that salary. I'm not asking for a new hire. This is not a new position that would have treated them any better. You know, we can... I mean, we can parse things... how we want to. I mean, religious rules... they don't contribute to P&L. That's our position. But we send literal statements out there to the vocations group. The county doesn't pay the road county to protect our citizens that leave here and we'll work with their and our county doesn't send their... I mean, we can parse this a million different ways. But this is just me protecting... like me as the county sheriff. I have an obligation to protect the kids that are in the schools out in the county. And I'll have to leave P&L unattended. It's not a new position. It's literally just me saying I will assign an officer out there and the school says, well, since you're going to do that, I'm going to pay you. We're going to pay you guys since thousands of hours to cover all of them. Like... I'm just going to have a time for clearly address other schools and just to become something that you want to practice. A lot of other schools are we talking about the address, the friend bill, the address, NLCS, we've just matured. The address is going to be maybe going forward that you want to have some funding for it or maybe, you know, you said LCIS, it seems to be making a fine officer. Maybe you can all make a fine officer and then want to find funding for them. They will also have the opportunity to apply for those grants. They get those grants. Every school, every school in this county, it gets the grant. I'm sure they are standing there and holding this in place. Right. We're giving you one more lawsuit then there's your grant, or any one, the county to tell some funding. I guess that's it. Where they get the funding to replace our cost is really irrelevant to us. Well, when the other thing that factors into this, in my mind, I know you have the shortage of their peace period, the key, and we haven't been sending one to set out there in North Lawrence, but now we are, and we're going to expand, county funds to do it. The only way that, I mean, I like DSRO, but the only way that I think this is at all that, what I'm both, is if, we're going to pay money at North Lawrence, we're going to have to figure out a way to also do the nature. Because otherwise, I think it's making tax payers in one district, subsidize another. And as far as, like the vocational center, I'm not sure if it's still the way they, but I know the time, Mitchell Payne, to be part of the vocational system. Let me address it. Let me just say this. I think all taxpayers do pay money, like, Mitchell taxpayers, I mean, they get, Mitchell schools get tax money, from all over the county, to pay for, not from the rest of all, though.

{# E23 (Nick, ruling section 1 answer 10): quoting a bill or a court opinion works the way quoting a news article works. Select a passage above and the same panel opens: the passage goes to the official you choose, with this document's own address as its source and its own type. #}
