After Newcomb consented to a search of the vehicle and Newcomb’s person, officers found methamphetamine and two syringes. The State charged Newcomb with possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony, and possession of a syringe, a Class D felony. On June 13, 2011, appearing pro se, Newcomb pleaded guilty as charged without a plea agreement. On July 14, 2011, a sentencing hearing was held.
