On August 25, 2020, the Sheriff’s Department filed a return, which provided that the complaint was served by “D/M Copy” at an address in Franklin, Indiana. Appellants’ App. Vol. II p. 8. The record does not indicate that a summons was filed or served. On October 23, 2020, the Crockers filed a motion for default judgment “without notice” against Defendants. Id. at 10.
