Shortly after R.K.’s birth, Mother began a relationship with Barnhart, who was born in June 1970, and the relationship continued for approximately ten years. When S.K. was five or six years old, on “either the first day before school, [ ] the night before the first day of school, or very early on in the school year . . . ,” Mother was at work, and S.K. was taking a bath.
