Mandai's Rainforest Wild Adventure East housing African-inspired zone officially [0:00-3:05]
Mandai Wildlife Reserves 10-year rejuvenation plan is now complete with the opening of Rainforest Wild Asia, it's 5th and final park. The attraction is also Southeast Asia's first to house the endangered or coffee. Rachel Ting with this report. These rare animals may look like zebras or deer, but look again. They're a copy native to the Congo basin in Central Africa and a close cousin of the giraffe. Less than 15,000 of them are left in the wild, but Mandai Wildlife Group hopes to breed more of the endangered species. Mandai's third and newest animal hospital will also rehabilitate rescued wildlife in Singapore while offering visitors a rare glimpse into the work of its fats. We actually can showcase, for example, animal species that come to Mandai, like the state that they are in, and also, for example, if let's say they are any medicinal or medical treatment that is ongoing, what sort of care is being given to the animal. Sometimes when we receive young individuals as well, the team will take good care of the young, so make sure that they are growing up to be ready to be rehabilitated. Other animals, including the African painted dogs, Asian small-clothed otters and ring-tailed lemurs, are also residents here. And visitors won't just get wildlife, they'll also get a dose of adventure. Now I'm currently 11 meters above ground level, and I've got a bird's eye view of the entire Lima land, which is modeled after the forest of Madagascar. And this is designed to give the lemurs as natural habitat as possible. I've had to climb up several ladder rocks just to get up here, and in a few minutes time I'll be doing a 10 meter descent drop back to ground level. And this is one of the most exciting adventures here at the newly opened park. Other high-element thrills include an 8 meter tall swing and a canopy ride. The Mandai Wildlife Reserve is home to five wildlife parks, the Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Night Safari, Bird Paradise and Rainforest Wild Adventure, West and East. There are also indoor attractions, a resort, event space and outdoor high-end campsites. The entire site is the size of 173 football fields. Singapore as a city, state, a very urbanized place can find a sustainable way of development where nature and our economic activity can come together hand in hand, and yet devoting our pursuit of science and excellence to the conservation of nature. The Singapore Tourism Board says having these attractions in one area provides a unique experience that no other regional destinations can duplicate. It says this development will help Singapore achieve its 2040 target of earning at least 47 billion dollars in tourism receipts.
