J S, et al. ── Case No.: 23A-AD-01908 Court: Indiana Court of Appeals Date: February 13, 2024 Author: Judge Elizabeth Tavitas County of Origin: Vanderburgh Category: Civil Decision: Affirmed Judge Pyle and Judge Foley concur R.S. was born in July 2018. At birth, R.S.’s blood tested positive for alcohol and illicit drugs. Due to this and Parents’ unstable living conditions, the Department of Child Services (“DCS”) filed a petition in Dubois Circuit Court alleging that R.S. was a child in need of services (“CHINS”). DCS placed R.S. with Grandparents after R.S. was released from the hospital. Following a hearing on September 7, 2018, the trial court found R.S. to be a CHINS.
