The Testaments: The On-Set Habit That Changed Becka’s Story | Set Stories [0:00-3:19]

I was challenged with a character that's already hesitant about a world that she would have no outside reference to. It's such an amazing vibe. Everybody is one big happy family. The minute that we all met each other, we were all super fortunate to have such a talented and hardworking cast, but everybody just instantly boggled it and instantly clicked. If you were to walk on a set, I think you would hear a lot of giggling, a lot of jokes, a lot of singing. Case and I would sing all of the time in between takes. It was a bit annoying, but just a ton of lighthearted and playful energy. We sang Wicked. We ran through the entire soundtrack because that's what the movies were all coming out while we were filming and we're also very big theater kids. So anything brought by anything theater we were singing and people were sick of it for sure, but we could just kept going. I will say when we were filming in the studios in Toronto, it felt like home. It was like, you know, when we were on location, we were in the studios and it just kind of felt like we were back at our home base. But I really liked filming in the country in Toronto. I forget where we were, but we filmed with so many the vast fields and flowers and it was very pretty. The first scene we were filming was we started in April and it was actually the coldest day on record in Toronto for the month of April. In the past last decade, I think. So that's how we started the filming. That's what the vibe was. And then as we progressed into the later months, once it was August, July, it was so hot. So we had to pretend to be cold and pretend to be hot at the same time. So the weather was was zero to 100. I would say all of the lunch scenes that we filmed. I know there's a ton of hidden tension and hidden notes that we all can't really verbalize or be that expressive about. But those days off camera were my favorite because that's when everybody was together and everybody was able to hang out and regroup and reunite. I also really enjoyed the ball scenes. Those were super fun and it was such an amazing way that we got to express ourselves in a creative and artistic fashion too. So the ball scenes I think were my favorite to film. So luckily because everything was so minimal, we didn't have to spend too much time in the hair makeup trailers. But the costume, Gilead, you're not allowed to express yourself individually, like any other person or character can. So our costumes and our hair and our makeup work in a way to show our individuality in a way that we can't really express. So that was really fun to play around with and have those conversations with our hair and makeup and costume teams. But we would it was my favorite part of the day was showing up to hair and makeup and sitting in the trailers. We would listen to music and we would sing and just debrief our days. And then after we were done filming, taking off all the light makeup that we were wearing, but it was it was a very good, it was very collaborative and very fun experience.

{# E23 (Nick, ruling section 1 answer 10): quoting a bill or a court opinion works the way quoting a news article works. Select a passage above and the same panel opens: the passage goes to the official you choose, with this document's own address as its source and its own type. #}
