The campfire was in J.P.’s backyard. Emma Miller, Cooper Hesser, and J.P.’s brother, H.P., were also there. Over the course of the evening, the group drank beers, smoked marijuana, and took turns firing a gun Johnson brought to the campfire. Johnson had recently been given the gun as a birthday gift.
