Parent, real estate developer files to run for Hamilton Southeastern school board
David Turk
David Turk, a Fishers resident, real estate developer, and father of three, filed May 19 to run for Hamilton Southeastern School Board District 3.
Turk grew up in Hamilton County and attended Noblesville High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in biology from Purdue University, where he met his wife, Rachel. In the fall of 2021, the Turks decided to move their family to Fishers so their three children could attend the Hamilton Southeastern school system.
All three of the couple’s children, Lore, James and Lyon, are enrolled at Brooks School Elementary. James is blind, and the family has seen firsthand how HSE’s special education programs can open doors for kids with unique needs. Turk’s mother was a public school teacher, and her influence shaped his respect for those working in education.
“HSE has done something extraordinary for our son, James,” Turk stated. “The teachers and staff in this district have gone above and beyond to make sure every kid has the chance to thrive. My mom was an Indiana public school teacher. I know how much these educators give. I am running to protect those programs, keep the best teachers in HSE, and be responsible stewards of the resources that families and taxpayers trust us with.”
Turk’s campaign is centered on three priorities: protecting and strengthening HSE’s special needs and special education programs, keeping talented teachers in the district, and ensuring smart, responsible budgeting.
