The primary care physician made the referral because she suspected Miller could have a rheumatological disease based on Miller’s symptoms, which included: years of pain in her muscles and joints, swelling in her knuckles, stiffness, pain in her shoulders and hips, hair loss, weight gain, mouth sores, and rashes.
