Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Detention Authority Clarification Act''. SEC. 2. INSPECTION AND DETENTION OF CERTAIN ALIENS. (a) Inspection.--Section 235(b)(2)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1225(b)(2)(A)) is amended by striking ``an alien seeking admission'' and inserting ``the applicant for admission''. (b) Mandatory Detention.--Section 236(c)(1) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1226(c)(1)) is amended-- (1) in each of subparagraphs (A), (B), and (C), by striking the comma at the end and inserting a semicolon; (2) in subparagraph (D), by striking ``, or'' at the end and inserting a semicolon; (3) in subparagraph (E)(ii), by striking the comma at the end and inserting ``; or''; and (4) by inserting after subparagraph (E) the following: ``(F) is an applicant for admission described in section 235(a)(1),''. <all>
