Around 5:30 p.m. on July 19, 2019, while driving on State Road 5 in
Huntington County, Thomas noticed a motorcycle in the knee-high grass off
the side of the road. Soon after, Thomas noticed that Hatzfeld was in the grass,
attempting to get the motorcycle started. Thomas also observed Hatzfeld
attempt to walk out of the ditch to the side of the road, falling with each
attempt.
