Mayor declares May Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental Health Awareness Month is an important reminder that mental health affects friends and neighbors from every part of the community.
The City of Huntington and Huntington County have partnered with Bowen Health in a shared commitment to reduce the stigma and raise awareness of the mental health resources available to residents and families.
“Untreated mental illness deeply impacts every aspect of an individual’s health and well-being. These challenges touch people from all walks of life, often more quietly than we realize. But just as importantly, recovery can and does happen every day when people have support, connection, and access to care,” according to the city’s Facebook page.
On May 14, Huntington Mayor Richard Strick signed a proclamation recognizing May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month in the Community.
Bowen Health encourages anyone in crisis to reach out to the 988 Lifeline. Residents can also connect with mental health resources and care at www.bowenhealth.org.
