Kaufman saw Vasquez strike E.L. “hard” with a closed fist once in the head and twice to the lower abdomen. Tr. Vol. II p. 170. Kaufman testified that E.L. “[c]ringed like in a blocking style” when Vasquez first struck her. Tr. Vol. II p. 170. Police arrived after Kaufman called 911 and took Vasquez into custody.
