Gov. Proclaims EMS Week in Indiana
(Statewide) – Gov. Mike Braun and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) are recognizing Emergency Medical Service (EMS) professionals across the state during
National EMS Week
, taking place May 17-23.
This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” emphasizes the essential coordination and collaboration required to improve patient outcomes. In recognition of these dedicated professionals, Gov. Braun has
formally proclaimed
May 17-23 as EMS Week in Indiana.
“EMS is the front line of our health care system,” said Gov. Braun. “Our EMS professionals stand proudly at the intersection of healthcare, public health and public safety, filling the gaps to provide lifesaving, out-of-hospital care. With more than 3,000 runs each day, Indiana is blessed to have dedicated professionals who go above and beyond to care for Hoosiers.”
Indiana has more than 25,000 certified emergency medical responders, emergency medical technicians, advanced emergency medical technicians, paramedics, dispatchers and support staff.
With their expertise, the state has led the way in the EMS field through the
Mobile Integrated Health Program
and the
Indiana Rural Health Transformation Program
.
IDHS’ State EMS Director Kraig Kinney shared his appreciation for the compassionate EMS professionals.
“None of this progress would be possible without the partnership of EMS providers,” said Kinney. “To all of you, I thank you for answering the call 24/7 and for going above and beyond for Hoosier families.”
