The laborers building the board tree tunnel were predominantly Irish immigrants. Between the board tree tunnel and its companion, the Kingwood tunnel, there were at minimum 30 deaths and 300 serious injuries. I'll be posting the Kingwood tunnel very soon. The earliest mark grave I was able to locate at this cemetery was a child buried in 1858.
