At some point, they started “[c]asually dating” each other, which involved “casually having sex and stuff like that” and eventually “became […] a couple[.]” Tr. Vol. II pp. 24–25. On December 28, 2022, A.P. was home sleeping when Gaddis came home intoxicated. A.P. could smell alcohol on Gaddis, and he was belligerent and saying derogatory things about her. When Gaddis attempted to remove A.P.’s underwear, she told him to stop and attempted to resist. Gaddis began choking A.P.
