Lewis Vega Entire Interview - The Caring Place - OvercomersTV.Live [0:37-5:40]
And my mother passed away. My father got sent off to prison. My grandfather passed away. God bless his life. And I had nowhere to go. I lost my job because of drug activity. I had nowhere to go. I started looking online to where I could check into a shelter or homeless shelter or a program. And I've been through several drug rehabilitation programs before and many correctional facilities. And I just needed somewhere to go and feel safe. And I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. And everywhere else I looked up online was like a three month waiting list and I just needed to get under a roof as soon as possible. Because I wanted to let all that involved with the negative lifestyle go and the only place that told me, yeah we'll accept you come in Monday morning at 6 a.m. with the Miami Rescue Mission. And I've been involved with the Miami Rescue Mission since February of 2023. And the love that I was shown from the first day is indescribable. They took me in as family and accepted me as I am and helped me be a new creation in Christ in every way. Yeah, I was struggling with homelessness. That's one of the main reasons why I was looking for somewhere to go. But I can truly say today that God led me to the Miami Rescue Mission. Because like I said before, there was no other place that would take me every other place was like three months away. And the only one call that I made to the Miami Rescue Mission would they said, come in on Monday. So I thank God for the Miami Rescue Mission and the carrying place and what they do here. The mission and the vision of the Miami Rescue Mission and the carrying place. And one word is unconditional love. You go also add their core principles I would say, you know, compassion, transformation, hope. I graduated the whole entire Miami Rescue Mission program and everything involved there with June of 2024 with top honors. I was co-captain of Spanish Alpha 46. And of my brothers that I graduated the 16-week intense Christian Desepership Alpha program with, I'm the last one still hanging around. And I got to thank God for that because God has a great plan and purpose for my life. And I was doing so well. You know, I was going to school. I was working. I started leaning on my own understanding where I was working with a toxic environment. I got in a relationship too early. I left the program too early. The money, the negative environment, my emotions got the best of me in the relationship, which all the staff, the leadership team, counselors, pastors, everyone advised me not to go. And I went anyways. And I paid dearly for that. I relapsed. I repented. I cried out to God. He heard me once again in the Miami Rescue Mission. Reaccepted me with open arms and love. And for that I'll be eternally grateful always on to God, the caring place, and everyone involved there with because they have truly shown me what brotherhood and family in Christ is really all about in every way. That's a beautiful thing what they do here. They share the word from A to Z from the beginning to the top. And I've learned so much about the word of God, how to apply it in my daily life and practice it, and how to minister the word of God to others. And it's a beautiful thing to know that God's love
