Paula Kantor - AgWISE: A Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Perspective [37:28-40:07]
So to some of this like water challenges are deeply linked to psychosocial stress going down the physical economic or challenges, food challenges that commercial research are largely emphasized. However, what is particularly striking is the scale of physical psychosocial stress and on the 86% of men and 70% of women reported such experience you can see from the figure. So you can think since women bear the double water burden or both challenges. So how the psychosocial stress level is lower than men. So the reason we identify is that the men tend to express anger and frustration more openly with others. Where women on other hand are less likely to express the anger publicly. So women explain the express that the showing anger does not improve access to water but it actually carry the social consequences. They are they are they called as bad women. So as a result so they try to internalize stress and experience it through silent worry, exhaustion and emotional strain. So to sum up our our starry findings, so we think that there is a need to rethink how we understand and meet our water and security in meaningful systems. And the advice to actually advance this understanding by bringing at them bringing men and women live experiences to the centers of connecting water and security not only to the agriculture but also a broader question of climate vulnerability governance failures, ecosystem dependence. And importantly, advice actually most bound the conventional tools and it introduced water needs including water for crops for livestock and ecosystem that sustain this livelihoods. And it also being attention to intersection exclusions showing how insecurity is shaped but not only the gender but also by the other social entities you know. And then at the same time, advice, it add up a human centered approach is it's it's a live experience of of everyday life experience of of men and women's. So it goes beyond the physical and material dimensions to capture the psychosocial experience that are often overlooked. And and finally, I can say that advice is a multi dimensional lens of mirroring water and security as a light and relational experiences. So for the next slide, I really like to call them a deeper.
