500 Festival kicks off May on Monument Circle
The 500 Festival Kickoff to May, presented by STAR Financial Bank, marked the official start of the racing season Wednesday at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.
The annual event serves as the community countdown to the Indy 500, drawing race fans, exhibitors and local leaders—including Gov. Mike Braun and Mayor Joe Hogsett—to the heart of the city. Members of the community joined the 500 Festival Board of Directors and the 500 Festival Princesses to welcome the month’s festivities.
Participants had the opportunity to pick up prizes from various exhibitors and take photos with the 2026 Festival Cars. The event is the first of several 500 Festival traditions leading up to the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
