National Day of Mourning with a focus on mental health [0:00-0:53]
Today is National Day of Morning. Honoring those who have died or been injured on the job, and this year there is a particular focus on mental health. Experts say this is one of the biggest workplace safety challenges we've seen right now. Today at Barry City Hall, the Barry and District Labor Council joined other organizations to call for stronger solutions, saying workers should not just survive but instead thrive. By working together, by calling out and saying what is unsafe, what do we need to survive and thrive in this economy, in these workplaces? Everybody needs a chance to be listened to. The Labor Council, adding focus, will be put on functioning workplace health and safety programs, balanced workloads, role clarity, mutual respect, and technology use, not misuse.
