Forrest Gump (1994) / Glenmorangie Nectar D'or Single Malt Scotch [36:47-41:47]

All right, everybody. Today, we are going to be drinking from one of our favorite brands. We absolutely love Glenn Morinji. And we're going to be drinking the most famous of their brands in our minds, simply for the fact that it is called Nectar. The Glenn Morinji Nectar door. This is, man, this is legendary in film. The annals of film and whiskey. And I'm curious, like, is it going to stand up to the amount of attention we've paid to it over the years? I don't know, man, because even at the time we reviewed it, and let's back up a minute, we first tried the Glenn Morinji brand when we picked up a sampler of 100 ML samples of four of their different products. And I think back then, this was like 25 bucks. It was like the best possible deal you could get in Scotch. I think they've since discontinued this sampler because so many of the whiskey's in here have undergone a little bit of a renovation. But it included their standard 10-year. It included the Kinsa Rubin. It included the La Santa. And then, like, the big dog in the box was supposed to be this nectar door. And Brad, we really liked the La Santa and we especially liked the Kinsa Rubin. And the nectar door was like, this is good. This is still better than the standard 10-year. But we didn't think it was worth the what we considered to be astronomical price hike over the other three in the box. So I'm excited to revisit this because again, I feel like this is supposed to be the big selling point of the box. It's the most expensive of the four, or at least it was at the time we purchased this. The version that we have in the box is actually now an outdated version of nectar door. It was 12 years old at the time of this bottling. And it was finished in so-turned casks, which we've talked about many, many times through the history of film and whiskey. It gives, it's a French wine. It gives really sweet character. Now, this is a 16-year age-stated product. It's finished in at least three different types of casks. I think one of them being Tokai casks from Hungary so we'll have to try that new version, but we're kind of paying homage to season one by revisiting what we tried back then in this 12-year expression. Now, I will tell you, Bob, the Glenmourngy Taster pack is still available. It is still four 100 ml bottles of the original, which is the 10-year, the La Santa 12-year, the Quinta Rubin 12-year, and the nectar door. So you can still get this. It will cost you $32, which for 400 ml of scotch, I would say is a very good price. I am really surprised you can still buy it anywhere. I would have assumed that this, like the skew, would be dead by now because the Quinta Rubin is not 12-year anymore, and it hasn't been for five years now. The nectar door is not 12 years anymore. I don't know about the La Santa, but this seems like they're just trying to burn through old stock of stuff, which is totally fine. I still think it's worth it. Yeah, I think it's worth picking up for sure. Well, let's get into the review here, Bob. I have drank this already. I've taken my notes. So I'll jump in on the nose while you get started. I think this is one of the best noses we've had in a while. It's pretty delightful. Oh my gosh, dude. There's almost like a toasted candy to almond note on the nose. There's a ton of honey, almost like a honeycomb. There's some prosciutto. And it got citrusy for me. But the word that came to my mind was like a lemon meringue, like a little bit creamy, a little bit zesty. This is an incredible nose, Bob. I give it a nine out of ten. I'm gonna be just a little bit beneath you. I'm gonna be at an eight and a half on the nose. There's a lot of different directions this one can go. And, you know, we never mean to punish a nose as a result, but I can't quite pinpoint where this is gonna go flavor wise. It's really creamy. You absolutely nailed that. I get a little bit of melon on this. I get quite a bit of spicy black pepper as well. But then there's a lot of lemon. And for me, it's more lemon zest or even the pith of a lemon. It's a more aggressive lemon. I do definitely get the influence of the wine casks here. This has a really dark, really dark, grapey nose, similar to, I don't know, like a pino and water for me. And I would even call it almost raisin-y. Really, really good. But again, like, is it gonna taste like wine? Is it gonna taste like melon? It has those kind of bright, almost Irish whiskey notes at the top of it. So I'm at an eight and a half, but let's dive into the taste. I think when you move into the palette,
