Holmes County commissioner arrested on two felony charges
[transcript] A local commissioner is facing multiple felony charges. Holmes County attorney Nate Nolan says the board of commissioners was notified that district two commissioner Brandon Newsom was taken into custody by the Holmes County Sheriff's Office following an ongoing investigation. The sheriff's office has confirmed that Newsom was arrested on two felony charges, unauthorized person acting as a bill bonds agent and aiding and abetting unlicensed activity. Nolan tells News Channel 7 quote, it is our understanding that the district two commissioner voluntarily submitted himself for processing and was subsequently released on reconnaissance because the investigation is ongoing and litigation is pending. Specific response to the matter is inappropriate at this time.
