Small drove Peebles to his Mishawaka residence, where they talked and ate dinner together. Peebles stayed the night, and Small planned to take her back to the Hotel the next day. At approximately 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2021, Small loaded his truck with baskets of clothing that he intended to take to a nearby laundromat.
