David Bernard Smith, 64, of Broughton

David Bernard Smith, 64, of Broughton, IL passed away at his home on Thursday, April 16, 2026.  He was born in McLeansboro on January 14, 1962 to Billy Dean & Frances Ann (Allen) Smith. David worked in construction for the Laborer’s Local #561 in Evansville, IN and retired after 30 years.  He loved riding motorcycles, loved his family, and loved spending time with his granddaughters.  He was a creative designer and fabricator who could build anything that he thought of. He is survived by his son: David Smith, and wife Katie, of Wadesville, IN; granddaughters: Laney Noel Smith and Adley Kayann Smith of Wadesville, IN, former spouse and friend: Charlotte Morphis of Mt. Vernon, IL, and his loving dog: Dierks. David was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Frances Smith and his grandparents: Ida and Marion Allen. In accordance with his wishes, his body will be cremated and a private burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
