School board member censured for telling student, ‘God, you’re hot,’ says it was taken out of context - WAFB
After the comment went viral, the board held an emergency meeting where Ervin apologized for his statements but said they were taken out of context.
Ervin said he meant the girl was “on a roll” due to her questions during the meeting and had nothing to do with her appearance.

Following his apology at the emergency meeting, community members gave public comments and were outspoken not only against Ervin but also against the other board members. Several parents also said they did not believe Ervin’s claim that his comment was not about the student’s appearance.
Two school board members also suggested Ervin should resign.
The school board then voted to censure — or publicly reprimand — Ervin, and the meeting was adjourned.
This marks at least the second time that Ervin has been censured by the school board. He was previously censured in 2009 after records obtained by WCYB showed he had made a “
lewd, juvenile gesture of a sexual nature
” during a classroom discussion in front of students and teachers.
