It was common for people to gather in the Eden Green parking lot at night. Shortly after midnight on May 22, 2021, Thomas, his older sister Talazia, and several friends returned to Eden Green from a night out. They had been “driving around getting food and stuff” and visiting Thomas and Talazia’s great grandmother. Tr. Vol. 2 at 24. Thomas had a rifle with him throughout the evening.
