In the following days, there were protests and demonstrations around the country, including in downtown Indianapolis. On Saturday, May 30, what began as peaceful protests turned violent and destructive as night fell. Between 11:20 p.m. and 11:40 p.m., several crimes were committed within a two-block area north and east of Monument Circle. 1 The State charged Nakeyah Shields, Marcus Anderson, and Alijah Jones with the crimes.
