Smith was subsequently arrested and charged with residential entry. A jury trial was scheduled for June 13, 2024. Smith filed a Waiver of Trial by Jury on May 30, 2024. The document included several recitals about Smith’s rights to a jury trial and his understanding of those rights, and declared Smith made the waiver “freely, knowingly, understandingly, and voluntarily.” Appellant’s App. Vol.
